It didn't work for me, at all.
Perfectionism only increased my anxiety, frustration & impatience with my family
while creating disconnection, guilt, anger & shame within me.

I struggled with anxiety as a child but when I became a mom there was so much more to worry about!

Will they have ten toes? ... Did they eat enough? ... What if they don't fit in? ... How can they ever go to college with a 'B' grade?
Where did their shoes go? ... Who are they getting in that car with? ... Am I doing this right? ... Why won't they just listen to me?!

Where do you learn to be a mom? Who are your role models? Real life is not a 30 minute sit-com, we're in this for the long haul.

You're not supposed to be Mrs. Cleaver, Claire Huxtable, the Brady's or a Modern Family. You just need to be you & you just want to be the mom you always thought you would be, but something just doesn't feel right.

I've been there!  I've  done that too! I've changed! ~ And so can you!

I  won't guarantee that you'll all get along, be a tidy, "perfect" family & live happily ever after however, I can show you how your home can be honest, respectful, empowering, resilient, confident, independent, healthy, playful, & much more enjoyable!

Motherhood is both an art & a science, but who goes back to school to learn how to Mom? You would never expect to start a job without training to learn the basics, & most jobs require courses to upgrade your skills. As a woman, you may have learned the basics from your Mom but "momming" today can find us way above our pay grade!

There is no shame in wanting to learn how to make your life easier
. In fact, the only shame is that more of us don't want to admit that we have no idea what we are doing half the time. We're just making it up as we go & this leaves us feeling like an imposter or worse, like we are failing. Who has time to read the books? You need answers, skills & a plan to get through the next 18 years!

Feeling like you do not know what you're doing, or that you're are out of control only increases your anxiety until you find yourselves acting in ways you regret or find hard to forget, saying things like:

"How many times do I have to tell you to clean up?"
"Why do you kids keep pressing my buttons?"
"I'll give you the ipad if you just do it!"
          "Go to your room!"
          "Because I SAID SO!"

The next thing you know, you resort to the only tried & true parenting tool you have to control our child's behaviour, "So help me, I'm going to count to 3! 1...2...I said 3!" As if on 3, a lighting bolt will come out of the sky & magically make them act like the little prince or princess you always imagined they'd be!

This is what I call Mom-xiety, a special kind of anxiety reserved for moms who love their kids so much, they are fried!

If you've resorted to outdated practices, have unrealistic expectations & are feeling out of control, you are in the right place!
